Natural Meadow

For over twenty years, Fiore Garden Designs has continued to build gardens and develop landscapes from concept to blooms for an exacting private landowner.

Each project begins with a series of site visits, during which we listen to our client's interests, budget, and understanding of the site in terms of topography, natural features, and how the proposed design will fit into the natural landscape.

For our designers, the idea of a sustainable landscape and gardens is to take a lead from nature. We gravitate toward using indigenous plants and trees to maintain biodiversity native to the site.

Specific host plants provide future generations of pollinators and food sources for native bird species. In our building practices, we have a conscious effort to maintain the existing microclimates. Ideally, we use vernacular materials, and, on some projects, we screen and recycle material to build gardens.

We work with our clients to discover their desires, define their scope, and bring functional and aesthetic requirements to the forefront to establish a clear vision.

Each project requires a consultation and programming process, for each is site-specific, and every garden we build has its unique beauty.

PROCESS:

We start by developing a landscape masterplan plan.

This includes discovering the site's potential, your interests, and suitable plant material.

Example of gardens:

Entry stately treelined driveway gardens for an established aesthetic.

Informal courtyards: gravel base with rewilding perennials

MEADOWS:

Matrix-style meadows in areas to keep wild create a sustainable ecosystem with fewer weeds and less watering. Sometimes, it is used to balance the size of formal lawns.

Adding meadows to the garden plan will introduce both sustainability and wild aesthetics.

At Fiore Garden Designs, on our meadow farm, we grow the four essential native grasses to create the substrate for an organic Meadow Garden.

Meadows are harmonious with most garden schemes, from free form to formal.

Native wildflower plants add to the installation, bringing natural ecosystems to your site. The meadow quickly becomes a self-sustaining sanctuary for birds, butterflies, and pollinators.

This is what I call “Design Driven by Nature.” I rely on my Horticulture background to deconstruct what I see in nature and rebuild the meadow from the underground and up.

The site's soil structure and drainage quality determine the earthwork level.

All this discovery goes into the garden plan, which creates the ultimate landscape design to complement and work well with your architecture and lifestyle.
